Physitrack: Australian Physiotherapists Adopt Digital Therapeutics in Technology Deal

Through the partnership, the APA underlines its commitment to promoting innovation and technology across the Australian physiotherapy profession, enabling physiotherapists to advance their practice and professionalise care delivered to patients.

MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) has announced a three-year, exclusive partnership with Physitrack, the global digital therapeutics provider, for the provision of systems for global exercise prescription and outcome tracking to the APA’s members.

Through the partnership, the APA underlines its commitment to promoting innovation and technology across the Australian physiotherapy profession, enabling physiotherapists to advance their practice and professionalise care delivered to patients.

Physitrack is part of a select group of business and software solutions developers that Apple (AAPL) recently announced it is working with. Physitrack’s solutions allow physiotherapists to create tailored exercise programs in seconds. They do this by choosing from over 2,000 clearly narrated, clinically verified exercise videos developed by APA physiotherapists and leading institutions for physiotherapy research such as the University of Melbourne and London’s St Georges University Hospitals. Patients complete their prescribed exercises via free and easy-to-use iPhone, iPad or web apps, while in-app reminders keep them on track and motivated.

Physiotherapists meanwhile have real-time insight in patient adherence, pain levels and feedback. This allows them to proactively adjust exercise programs or schedule additional appointments with patients.

The end result is expected to be more engaged, adherent patients, achieved without major time and monetary investment from the physiotherapist.

Cris Massis, APA CEO says: “Partnering with Physitrack allows the APA to offer our members the latest innovation in exercise prescription. Embracing technology to advance the profession is at the heart of our strategic plan and therefore our partnership with Physitrack is a great fit.”

Nathan Skwortsow, co-founder and Chief Technical Officer adds: “The APA partnership is a major milestone for our company as Australian physiotherapists are globally known for their high level of sophistication and progressive treatment techniques. To have been adopted by such a large and renowned professional body is thrilling and we look forward to supporting as many of the APA’s 19,000 members as possible with our technology.”
